- DHEA is produced primarily by the adrenal glands, and together with its ester DHEA-sulphate (DHEAS), has been implicated in a wide range of physiological roles including aging, immunology, memory and obesity. In particular, DHEA and DHEAS differentially regulate growth-factor induced proliferation of chromaffin cells, and are thought to affect neurogenesis, neuronal survival, and neuronal stem cell proliferation. Blood measurements of DHEAS/DHEA are useful to detect excess adrenal activity due to adrenal cancer or hyperplasia, including certain forms of congenital adrenal hyperplasia. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: ELISA: 1:1,000-1:10,000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Recommended Secondary Antibodies: I1904-06C: IgG, H&L (HRP) (X-Adsorbed) Pab Gt xMo I1904-06H IgG, H&L (HRP) (X-Adsorbed) Pab Gt xMo I1904-14C: IgG, Fc (HRP) Pab Gt xMo Storage and Stability: Store product at 4°C if to be used immediately within two weeks. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable at -20°C for 12 months after receipt. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Note: Sodium azide is a potent inhibitor of peroxidase and should not be added to HRP conjugates. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
