- DHEA is produced primarily by the adrenal glands, and together with its ester DHEA-sulphate (DHEAS), has been implicated in a wide range of physiological roles including aging, immunology, memory and obesity. In particular, DHEA and DHEAS differentially regulate growth-factor induced proliferation of chromaffin cells, and are thought to affect neurogenesis, neuronal survival, and neuronal stem cell proliferation. Blood measurements of DHEAS/DHEA are useful to detect excess adrenal activity due to adrenal cancer or hyperplasia, including certain forms of congenital adrenal hyperplasia. Applications: Suitable for use in FLISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Store product at 4°C in the dark. DO NOT FREEZE! Stable at 4°C for 12 months after receipt as an undiluted liquid. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Caution: APC conjugates are sensitive to light. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap. Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
