- The antibiotic peptide dermcidin (110aa) is specifically and constitutively expressed in the sweat glands. DCD is localized to the dark mucous cells of normal eccrine sweat glands. DCD is normally expressed in eccrine sweat glands and is expressed in cutaneous mixed tumors. DCD-immunopositive cells are expressed in the inner cells of the tubular and ductal structures. The N-terminal aa sequence (18aa) is identical to a part of human cachexia-associated protein and of a survival-promoting peptide for neuronal cells. Besides this, the sequence is identical to the C-terminal peptide (aa62-79) of DCD. This monoclonal antibody can be used as a specific marker for eccrine glands in the human skin. This monoclonal antibody is useful as a immunohistochemical tool to find the tumor cells that differentiate towards eccrine secretory cells in cutaneous mixed tumors. Furthermore, the antibody can be used for the detection of biochemical and histochemical changes of the sweat gland in the healing process of wound. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot, ELISA and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Western Blot: 1:50 Immunohistochemistry: Paraffin sections Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
