- Extra Details:
- Displays several functions associated with host defense: it promotes agglutination, bacterial capsular swelling, phagocytosis and complement fixation through its calcium-dependent binding to hosphorylcholine. Can interact with DNA and histones and may scavenge nuclear material released from damaged circulating cells. Pentaxin (or pentraxin) have a discoid arrangement of 5 non-covalently bound subunits. This protein owes its name to its ability precipitate pneumococcal C-polysaccharide in the presence of calcium. Belongs to the pentaxin family. Contains 1 pentaxin domain. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1:10,000-1:100,000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
