- Cortisol is a glucocorticoid hormone synthesized from cholesterol by the adrenal cortex. It is released in response to pituitary adenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH) which is, in turn, regulated by corticotrophin releasing factor (CRF). High levels of cortisol act to regulate the release of ACTH and CRF via negative feedback inhibition. The release of cortisol stimulates the conversion of proteins to carbohydrates, raises blood sugar levels and promotes glycogen storage in the liver. Applications: Suitable for use in FLISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Store product at 4°C.. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at 4°C. Aliquots are stable at 4°C for 12 months after receipt. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Caution: FITC conjugates are sensitive to light. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
