- Extra Details:
- Collagen IV is a major constituent of the basement membranes along with laminins, proteoglycans and enactins. It is a multimeric protein composed of 3 alpha subunits. These subunits are encoded by 6 different genes, alpha 1 through alpha 6, each of which can form a triple helix structure with 2 other subunits to form type IV collagen. It can form insoluble fibers with high tensile strength. Collagen IV is useful in detecting the loss of parts of basement membranes in carcinomas. Applications: Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Immunohistochemistry (formalin fixed paraffin embedded): 1:25-1:50; The epitope recognized may be sensitive to routine formalin fixation and paraffin embedding. In testing of acetone-fixed frozen sections, strong staining of connective tissue fibers is seen. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
