- Chlamydia pneumoniae, also known as Chlamydophila pneumonia, is a Gram-negative, aerobic, intracellular pathogen. In humans it is a major cause of pneumonia, pharyngitis or bronchitis. Pneumonia may be caused by a variety of microbes and is characterized by cough, fever and breathing difficulties. Treatment of pneumonia caused by C. pneumoniae is different from that caused by other agents, although symptoms are indistinguishable. Prognosis of pneumonia caused by C. pneumoniae is usually excellent with hospitalisation and complications rare. The antigen preparation is inactivated using gamma radiation. TWAR is a species of the genus Chlamydia that causes respiratory disease. It is distinct from the two other chlamydial species that infect humans sharing less than 10% DNA homology. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Immunofluorescence. Other applications have not been tested. Recommended Dilutions: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Store product at 4°C if to be used immediately within two weeks. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable at -20°C for 12 months after receipt. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
