- CD56 is a 175-185kD isoform of the neural cell adhesion molecule (NCAM), expressed by lymphocytes mediating non-MHC restricted cytotoxicity and is present on some neural tissues and tumors. NCAM is involved in intercellular adhesion and plays a role in outgrowth of neurites and the development of the nervous system. Two major epitopes have been defined. At the international Workshop on SCLC antibodies, categorized as cluster 1 antibody. All cells in small cell carcinomas and carcinoids of the lung are strongly positive. NCAM (CD56) is a marker for natural killer. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot, ELISA and Immunohistochemistry. Not suitable for use in Flow Cytometry. Other applications have not been tested. Recommended Dilutions: Immunohistochemistry: Frozen sections ELISA: 80ng/ml Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
