- CD25, otherwise known as the Tac antigen or p55, is the alpha chain of the Interleukin-2 (IL-2) receptor. The IL-2 receptor is expressed on activated cells including T cells, B cells and monocytes. It is also present on a subset of thymocytes, HTLV-1 transformed T and B cells, EBV transformed B cells, myeloid precursors and oligodendrocytes. IL-2 induces the expression of the CD25 subunit on NK cells. The IL-2 receptor consists of at least three distinct membrane components: the alpha chain (IL-2R-alpa, Tac, CD25), the beta chain (IL-2R-beta, p75, CD122), and the gamma chain (IL-2R-gamma). CD25 is undetectable on resting T cells but is induced upon T-cell activation. Applications: Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry and Immunofluorescence. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Positive Control: Tonsil or lymph node Storage and Stability: Store product at 4°C if to be used immediately within two weeks. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable at -20°C for 12 months after receipt. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Caution: FITC conjugates are sensitive to light. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
