- CD2, also known as leukocyte function-associated antigen-2 (LFA-2), is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily of cell adhesion molecules.1 It is expressed on the surface of > 95% of thymocytes, and essentially all B cells, T cells and NK cells (1-3). In the mouse, CD2 is the receptor for CD48 (3). CD2 is thought to play a major role in mediating T-cell adhesion, T-cell recognition/activation, T-cell signaling and intrathymic differentiation (5-10). Applications: • Flow cytometry 1, 2, 4 • Immunoprecipitation 1, 2 • In vitro inhibition of CTL-mediated lysis 1 • Induction of T cell unresponsiveness in vivo 4 Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%). Store at -20°C or colder. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
