- The carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) is a member of a large family of glycoproteins and a useful tumor marker for adenocarcinoma. In the past, clinical utility of CEA antibodies in immunopathology has been limited by cross-reactivity with CEA-related antigens, particularly Non-Specific Cross-Reacting Antigen (NCA), in normal colon mucosa and human granulocytes. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Immunohistochemistry Staining: Brightness 80, Cytoplasmic staining 3+, Membrane staining 2+, Background 2+, Staining of mucus 2+. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Recommended antibody pair for sandwich immunoassay: Capture: C1299-87W Detection: C1299-87O Hybridoma: Sp2/0 myeloma cells with spleen cells from Balb/c mice. Storage and Stability: Store product at 4°C if to be used immediately within two weeks. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable at -20°C for 12 months after receipt. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
