C. jejuni is a curved, rod-shaped gram negative bacterium which is a member of the Campylobacteraceae family. They are motile with a polar unsheathed flagellum that results in a corkscrew like motion. They occur primarily as commensals in humans and domestic animals, particularly in chickens where gut temperatures of 42ºC are optimal for growth. C. jejuni are one of the most common causes of human diarrhea in the world. Food poisoning can be severely debilitating, although rarely life-threatening as the disease is self limiting. Campylobacter infections are also associated with post-infectious complications including arthritis, Reiter syndrome and Guillain-Barre´ syndrome. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: ELISA: 1:200- 1:1000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Store product at 4°C if to be used immediately within two weeks. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable at -20°C for 12 months after receipt. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Note: Sodium azide is a potent inhibitor of peroxidase and should not be added to HRP conjugates. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
