Extra Details:
CaMKII (Calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II) is a ubiquitous serine/threonine protein kinase that is abundant in the brain as a major constituent of the postsynaptic density (PSD). The enzyme is an oligomeric protein composed of distinct but related subunits, alpha, beta, gamma, and delta, each encoded by a separate gene. CAMKIIA is required for hippocampal long-term potentiation (LTP) and spatial learning. In addition to its calcium-calmodulin (CaM)-dependent activity, this protein can undergo autophosphorylation, resulting in CaM-independent activity. Two transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for this gene. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: ELISA: 1:32,000 Western Blot: 0.1-0.3ug/ml. ~55-65kD bands observed in Human Brain (Cerebellum) and Mouse Brain lysates (MW 55.3kD and 54.1) Immunohistochemistry(Paraffin): 3-6ug/ml Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
