- BRIX (Biogenesis of ribosomes in Xenopus; also BRIX domain-containing protein 2) is a 41kD (predicted) member of the BXDC2 family of proteins. It is found in nucleoli, and appears to participate in the formation of a complex associated with pre-rRNA and enzymes that generate 60S ribosomal subunits. Human BRIX is 353 amino acids in length. It is characterized by the presence of a BRIX domain that lies between aa 60-249. There is one splice variant that shows a 17aa substitution for aa11-27. Over aa131-353, human BRIX shares 93% aa identity with mouse BRIX. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1ug/ml in lysates of HepG2 human hepatocellular carcinoma cell line. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile PBS. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
