- BIRC6 is a member of a family of proteins that inhibit apoptosis, likely through interference with activation of ICE-like proteases. BIRC6, which contains a single BIR domain and a ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme domain, is expressed in four of six brain cancers (gliomas), and one of five ovarian cancers in a variety of human cancer cell lines. Brain cancer cell lines that overexpress BIRC6 demonstrate multi-drug resistance BIRC6 may protect cancer cells from undergoing apoptosis and participate in tumorigenesis and drug resistance. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: ELISA: 1:1,000 Immunohistochemistry: 1:50-1:100 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only.
