- Atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP), atrial natriuretic factor (ANF), or atriopeptin, is a polypeptide hormone secreted by atrial myocytes that is involved in the homeostatic control of body water, sodium, potassium and adiposity. It is released by atrial myocytes, muscle cells in the atria of the heart, in response to high blood pressure. ANP acts to reduce the water, sodium and adipose loads on the circulatory system, thereby reducing blood pressure. Applications: Suitable for use in FLISA, Immunohistochemistry, RIA, liquid phase assay without plasma extraction. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Immunohistochemistry: Formalin-fixed paraffin embedded tissue RIA: Competetive radioimmunoassay for the clinical measurement of circulating ANP levels in conjunction with cyclic GMP. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Hybridoma: NSO myeloma cells with spleen cells from Balb/c mice. Storage and Stability: Store product at 4°C in the dark. DO NOT FREEZE! Stable at 4°C for 12 months after receipt as an undiluted liquid. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Caution: APC conjugates are sensitive to light. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap. Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
