- The sarcoplasmic reticulum of striated muscle is a specialized intracellular membrane system that plays a critical role in the contraction and relaxation of muscle. The sarco/endoplasmic reticulum Ca2+ ATPases (SERCAs) mediate Ca2+ uptake into intracellular stores. SERCA mediated Ca2+ uptake induces and maintains muscular relaxation. SERCA1 is expressed in fast-twitch muscles, whereas SERCA2 is expressed in cardiac and slow-twitch muscles. SERCA2 plays an important part in regulating cardiac contractile function. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot, Immunocytochemistry and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Western Blot: 0.5ug/ml detected SERCA2 in 10ug of HEK293 cell lysates Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Positive Control: HEK293 cell lysate Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
