- Extra Details:
- AMPK2 alpha2 is a catalytic subunit of the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK). AMPK is a heterotrimer consisting of an alpha catalytic subunit, and non-catalytic beta and gamma subunits. AMPK is an important energy-sensing enzyme that monitors cellular energy status. In response to cellular metabolic stresses, AMPK is activated, and thus phosphorylates and inactivates acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) and beta-hydroxy beta-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase (HMGCR), key enzymes involved in regulating de novo biosynthesis of fatty acid and cholesterol. Studies of the mouse counterpart suggest that this catalytic subunit may control whole-body insulin sensitivity and is necessary for maintaining myocardial energy homeostasis during ischemia. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Western Blot: 0.5-2ug/ml. Detects AMP-activated protein kinase alpha2 (AMPKa2) in a rat liver preparation. Rat liver preparation was resolved by electrophoresis, transferred to nitrocellulose and probed with A1475-02 (2ug/ml). Proteins were visualized using an IgG (HRP) goat anti-rabbit and a chemiluminescence detection system. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Recommended Secondary Antibodies: I1904-39: IgG, X-Adsorbed (HRP) Pab Gt x Rb I1904-40A: IgG, H&L, X-Adsorbed (HRP) Pab Gt x Rb I1904-46Q: IgG, H&L (HRP) Pab Gt x Rb Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
