- Acts as transcriptional repressor and plays a role in gene silencing. Does not bind to DNA by itself (PubMed:12124384). Binds to DNA with a preference for sites containing methylated CpG dinucleotides (in vitro). Binds to a lesser degree DNA containing unmethylated CpG dinucleotides (PubMed:24307175). Recruits histone deacetylases and DNA methyltransferases. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1:500-1:5000 Immunohistochemistry: 1:20-1:200 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
