- CD87, also known as urokinase plasminogen activator receptor (uPAR), is a 50-65kD single chain glycosylphostidylinsitol (GPI) anchored glycoprotein, expressed by granulocytes, tissue macrophages, monocytes, endothelial cells, fibroblasts and mesenchymal and epithelial tumor cells. CD87 specifically binds and activates urokinase plasminogen activator (uPA), a serine protease which converts the inactive receptor-bound proenzyme plasminogen into plasmin, triggering the proteolysis cascade of fibrinolysis. The interaction between uPAR and uPA is also known to play a role in cancer cell invasion and metastasis. Clone VIM-5 is reported to block urokinase binding. Applications: Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry, Immunoprecipitation and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Flow Cytometry: 1:50-1:200 Immunohistochemistry (frozen): 1:100 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Hybridoma: Spleen cells from immunized Balb/c mice were fused with cells of the X63.Ag8.653 myeloma cell line.. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
