- CYP19A1(Cytochrome P450 19A1) is also named as ARO1(aromatase), CYAR, CYP19, estrogen synthase and belongs to the cytochrome P450 family. It is a terminal enzyme which transforms irreversibly androgens into estrogens and it is present in the endoplasmic reticulum of numerous tissues(PMID:16406261). The gene encodes a protein with the molecular weight between 46kD and 69kD (PMID:8129748) and the protein can be glycosylated, but the level of glycosylation does not seem to be essential for CYP19A1 activity(PMID:12606587). Brain aromatase may be neuroprotective by increasing the local estrogen levels in injured neurons so that genetic variation in the brain aromatase gene may modify the risk for AD(PMID:16767510). This antibody is specific to CYP19A1. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry, Immunofluorescence/Immunocytochemistry and ELISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1:500-1:2000, incubate membrane with diluted primary antibody in TBS, 5% milk, 0.1% Tween 20 at 4°C with gentle shaking, overnight. Immunohistochemistry: 1:50-1:200 Immunofluorescence (IF-IC): 1:100-1:500 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
