Extra Details:: Mycoplasma pneumoniae is a bacterium which is distinguished phenotypically from other bacteria by lacking a peptidoglycan cell wall. Mycoplasma pneumoniae is exclusively a human pathogen, and primarily attaches to mucosa in the upper and lower respiratory tract. It is transmitted by respiratory droplets, and infection can cause bronchial asthma, bronchitis and pneumonia. Central nervous system (CNS) manifestations are the most frequent extrapulmonary complications, and include encephalitis, aseptic meningitis, cerebellar ataxia, and myelitis. Applications: Suitable for use in Immunofluorescence and ELISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Immunofluorescence (direct): 1:10-1:50. Acetone fixation of the antigen source is recommended prior to staining. ELISA: 1:20-1:200 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
