- Nkx3-1 is a transcription factor, which binds preferentially the consensus sequence 5'-TAAGT[AG]-3' and can behave as a transcriptional repressor. It plays an important role in normal prostate development, regulating proliferation of glandular epithelium and in the formation of ducts in prostate. Nkx3-1 acts as a tumor suppressor controlling prostate carcinogenesis, as shown by the ability to suppress growth and tumorigenicity of prostate carcinoma cells and plays a role in the formation of minor salivary glands (particularly palatine and lingual glands). It is essential for appropriate differentiation and secretory function of the bulbourethral gland. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
