Extra Details:: Agtpbp1 is a metallocarboxypeptidase that mediates deglutamylation of target proteins. It catalyzes the deglutamylation of polyglutamate side chains generated by post-translational polyglutamylation in proteins such as tubulins. It also removes gene-encoded polyglutamates from the carboxy-terminus of target proteins such as MYLK. Agtpbp1 acts as a long-chain deglutamylase and specifically shortens long polyglutamate chains, while it is not able to remove the branching point glutamate, a process catalyzed by AGBL5/CCP5. Deglutamylation plays a key role in cerebellar Purkinje cell differentiation, accumulation of tubulin polyglutamylation causing neurodegeneration. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
