- This protein belongs to the aldehyde dehydrogenase family of proteins. This gene encodes a mitochondrial NAD+-dependent succinic semialdehyde dehydrogenase. A deficiency of this enzyme, known as 4- hydroxybutyricaciduria, is a rare inborn error in the metabolism of the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). In response to the defect, physiologic fluids from patients accumulate GHB, a compound with numerous neuromodulatory properties. Two transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for this gene. Applications: Suitable for use in Immunocytochemistry/Immunofluorescence, Flow Cytometry, ELISA, Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Hybridoma: F0 myeloma cells with spleen cells from BALB/c mice. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
