- Apoptosis-inducing factor 1, also known as AIFM1, is a mitochondrial protein that translocates to the nucleus upon induction of apoptosis. AIFM1 has been shown to cause DNA fragmentation and chromatin condensation and to induce the release of cytochrome c and caspase-9 from mitochondria. Bcl-2 overexpression has been shown to prevent the release of AIFM1 from mitochondria, but not to block its apoptogenic activity. Mutations in this gene cause combined oxidative phosphorylation deficiency 6, which results in a severe mitochondrial encephalomyopathy. Applications: Suitable for use in Immunocytochemistry/Immunofluorescence, Flow Cytometry, ELISA, Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Hybridoma: F0 myeloma cells with spleen cells from BALB/c mice. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
