Extra Details:: The desmogleins are a family of cadherins consisting of proteins DSG1, DSG2, DSG3, and DSG4. They play a role in the formation of desmosomes that join cells to one another. Desmoglein 3 is a calcium-binding transmembrane glycoprotein component of desmosomes in vertebrate epithelial cells. In immunoblots of cytoskeletal preparations from human epidermis the antibody reacts specifically with a 140kD polypeptide typical for Desmoglein 3. In immunolocalization studies the mab shows typical staining of basal and lower suprabasal layers of the epidermis and special regions of fetal and anagen hair follicles. The staining pattern observed corresponds to those obtained with pemphigus vulgaris patient sera. Applications: Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Immunohistochemistry: frozen (for better resolution preincubation (directly after fixation) with 0.05-0.2% Triton X-100 for 5-10 min, depending on tissue type, is recommended) Immunohistochemistry: Undiluted-1:50, paraffin (microwave treatment recommended Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
