- Beta-galactosidase, also called beta-gal or Beta-gal, is a hydrolase enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of Beta-galactosides into monosaccharides. Substrates of different Beta-galactosidases include ganglioside GM1, lactosylceramides, lactose, and various glycoproteins. Lactase is often confused as an alternative name for Beta-galactosidase, but it is actually simply a sub-class of Beta-galactosidase. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: ELISA: 1:10,000-1:50,0000 Western Blot: 1:5000-1:10,000 Immunohistochemistry: 1:1500 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
