Extra Details:: Beclin 1 is the mammalian ortholog of the yeast autophagy -related gene Atg6. It regulates autophagy and has an important role in development, tumorigenesis and neurodegeneration (1). Beclin 1 is localized within cytoplasmic structures including the mitochondria, yet overexpression reveals some nuclear staining (2). Researchers have found that schizonphrenia is associated with low levels of Beclin-1 in the hippocampus (3). It may also protect against infection by a neuorvirulent strain of Sindbis virus (4). Applications: Suitable for use in Immunofluorescence/Immunocytochemistry and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Immunofluorescence/Immunocytochemistry: 1:100 Western Blot: 1:1000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
