- Secretogranin III is a member of the chromogranin/secretogranin family of neuroendocrine secretory proteins. Granins may serve as precursors for biologically active peptides. Some granins have been shown to function as helper proteins in sorting and proteolytic processing of prohormones; however, the function of this protein is unknown. The deduced 468aa protein, which has a calculated molecular mass of 53kD, contains an N-terminal signal peptide, a secretogranin motif, 3 potential N-glycosylation sites, and a putative tyrosine sulfation site. SCG3 shares 87%, 87%, and 56% overall identity with the mouse, rat, and Xenopus orthologs, respectively. SCG3 localized to the perinuclear endoplasmic reticulum in transfected COS-7 cells. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry, Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1:50-400 Immunocytochemistry: 1:50-500 Immunohistochemistry (frozen): 1:50-500 Immunohistochemistry (paraffin): 1:10-100 ELISA: 1:100-1:5000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
