- Mammalian mitochondria, however, have a single Met-tRNA gene (MTTM) which must be processed to produce both formylated and nonformylated forms. Presumably MTFMT balances the ratios of both species of Met-tRNA to match the needs of protein synthesis. Takeuchi et al. (1998) partially purified a mitochondrial methionyl-tRNA transformylase (MTFmt) from bovine liver, determined the amino-terminal peptide sequence, and obtained a cDNA from a bovine heart library based on a partial human cDNA sequence identified in a database search. The predicted 357aa bovine and 304aa human proteins are about 30% identical to MTFs in prokaryotes. The International Radiation Hybrid Mapping Consortium mapped the MTFMT gene to chromosome 15. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry and Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Western Blot: 0.01-2ug/ml Immunohistochemistry: 5-20ug/ml Immunocytochemistry: 5-20ug/ml Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
