- HPS1 encodes a protein that may play a role in organelle biogenesis associated with melanosomes, platelet dense granules, and lysosomes. The encoded protein is a component of three different protein complexes termed biogenesis of lysosome-related organelles complex (BLOC)-3, BLOC4, and BLOC5. Mutations in this gene are associated with Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome type 1. Multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for this gene; the full-length sequences of some of these have not been determined yet.Size exclusion chromatography and sedimentation velocity analysis of the cytosolic fraction indicated that HPS1 and HPS4 formed a moderately asymmetric complex with a molecular mass of about 175kD. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry, Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1:50-400 Immunocytochemistry: 1:50-500 Immunohistochemistry (frozen): 1:50-500 Immunohistochemistry (paraffin): 1:10-100 ELISA: 1:100-1:5000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
