- Calcium-binding protein 8 is a protein with high similarity to the calcium-binding proteins of the calmodulin family. The encoded protein contains two EF-hand domains and potential calcium-binding sites. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Calneuron 1 negatively regulates Golgi-to-plasma membrane trafficking by interacting with PI4KB and inhibiting its activity. May play a role in the physiology of neurons and is potentially important in memory and learning. Interacts with PI4KB. This binding competes with FREQ/NCS1 binding in a calcium-dependent manner. The mouse orthologous gene (Caln1) shows little prenatal expression, with highest expression at Postnatal Day 21. I CALN1 has a significant role in the physiology of neurons and is potentially important in memory and learning. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
