- Eotaxin-2 is a CC chemokine that signals through the CCR3 receptor. It is produced by activated monocytes and T lymphocytes. Eotaxin-2 selectively chemoattracts cells expressing CCR3, including eosinophils, basophils, Th2 T cells, mast cells, and certain subsets of dendritic cells. Additionally, Eotaxin-2 inhibits the proliferation of multipotential hematopoietic progenitor cells. The mature protein, which also includes a C-terminal truncation, contains 78 amino acid residues (92 amino acid residues for the murine homolog, without C-terminal truncation). Eotaxin-2 contains the four conserved cysteine residues present in CC chemokines. Recombinant human Eotaxin-2 is an 8.8kD protein containing 78 amino acid residues. Recombinant protein corresponding to human Eotaxin-2, expressed in E. coli. Molecular Weight: ~8.8kD (78aa) Biological Activity: Determined by its ability to chemoattract using human peripheral blood eosinophils using a concentration of 50-100ng/ml. Amino Acid Sequence: VVIPSPCCMF FVSKRIPENR VVSYQLSSRS TCLKGGVIFT TKKGQQFCGD PKQEWVQRYM KNLDAKQKKA SPRARAVA Storage and Stability: Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 6 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O, 0.1% BSA. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
