- GBP5 (guanylate binding protein 5) is one of seven interferon-inducible GTPases in humans that have recently been shown to be involved in host defense against intracellular pathogens (1,2). Specifically, in response to intracellular bacteria or cell wall components, GBP5 acts as a tetramer to facilitate assembly of the NLRP3 inflammasome, leading to caspase-1 activation (2,3). In addition, GBP5 enables activation of the AIM2 inflammasome by promoting lysis of intracellular bacteria and release of pathogenic double-stranded DNA (4). Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1:1000, incubate membrane with diluted primary antibody in 5% BSA, 1X TBS, 0.1% Tween-20 at 4°C with gentle shaking, overnight. Immunoprecipitation: 1:200 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
