It is a potent activator of macrophages, it has antiproliferative effects on transformed cells and it can potentiate the antiviral and antitumor effects of the type I interferons. The ED50 as determined by a cytotoxicity assay using HT-29 cells is less than 0.05ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of ＞ 2.0x10e7 IU/mg.
