- Sodium Tetrachloroaurate(III) Dihydrate, is an essential chemical compound used in chemical synthesis as gold catalyst. A water/alcohol soluble Au(I) complex formed from NaAuCl4 has potential for application in chemotherapeutics. It is used in chemo-therapeutics. It is employed as a catalyst in the removal of tert-butyl(dimethyl)silyl (TBS) protecting groups. It is selective in the presence of aromatic TBS ethers, aliphatic triisopropylsilyl ethers, aliphatic tert-butyl(diphenyl)silyl ethers, or sterically hindered aliphatic TBS ethers. With excess catalyst, TBS ethers can also be transformed into 4-methoxybenzyl ethers or methyl ethers in one pot. Synonyms: Sodium tetrachloroaurate(III) Dihydrate CAS Number: 13874-02-7 Anhydrous free acid 14337-12-3 Molecular Formula: NaAuCl₄•2H₂O Molecular Weight: 397.80 Appearance: Yellow-orange crystalline solid Purity: ≥99% Melting Point: ~100°C (dec.) Solubility: Soluble in water, alcohol and ether. Storage and Stability: Store at 4°C under inert atmosphere. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap.
