- DL-a-Glycerophosphoric acid disodium salt is a polymerase chain inhibitor that inhibits the activity of bacterial DNA polymerases, preventing the synthesis of DNA. It has been shown to have antimicrobial effects against gram-positive bacteria and estradiol benzoate. DL-a-Glycerophosphoric acid disodium salt is used as an additive in glucose injections for pediatric patients with diabetes mellitus, as it prevents the glucose from crystalizing and blocks its absorption by the body. DL-a-Glycerophosphoric acid disodium salt can also be used to inhibit blood coagulation and increase blood flow when administered intravenously.
