Ionomycin binds Ca2+ in the 7.0-9.5 pH range with the resulting complex exhibiting intense UV absorption. Ionomycin Calcium is a polyether antibiotic obtained from Streptomyces conglobatus by solvent extraction. It is different from other antibiotics of its class as it absorbs UV light at 300nm maximum.
