- Progerin is a 614aa protein involved in Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome. Progerin is most often generated by a point mutation (C1824T) in the LMNA gene that codes for lamin A and C. This mutation activates a cryptic splice site and gives rise to a form of lamin A with a 50aa internal deletion within the carboxyl-terminal domain of the protein. Approximately 80% of Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome cases carry a single copy of the most common mutation, a silent point mutation, G608G (GGC > GGT), within exon 11 of LMNA gene Applications: Suitable for use in Immunofluorescence, ELISA, Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation, Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1:500. Detects a band of ~70kD Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Hybridoma: X63-Ag8.653 myeloma cells with spleen cells from Balb/c mice. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
