- Legionella pneumophila is a flagellated gram negative bacterium found primarily in warm water environments. Legionella pneumophila causes a type of pneumonia called Legionnaire disease and a milder condition called Pontiac fever Infection is acquired through inhalation of the microorganism in water mists (eg from air conditioning cooling towers whirlpool spas and showers mists). A number of risk factors for acquiring Legionnaire disease have been identified including age smoking chronic lung disease cancer and immunosuppression. Applications: Suitable for use in Immunofluorescence, Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
