- In cardiac tissue brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) is synthesized as 134aa precursor (prepro-BNP), which is cleaved by proteases to form a 26aa "signal" peptide and a 108aa pro-BNP. Proteolytic digestion of pro-BNP results in formation of 76aa amino-terminal NT-proBNP and biologically active 32aa BNP hormone molecule. Both proBNP and NTproBNP circulate in human plasma and have been proposed as markers for early diagnosis of left ventricular dysfunction as well as prognostic markers of possible cardiac complications at patients with heart failure. Applications: Suitable for use in FLISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Store product at 4°C if to be used immediately within two weeks. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable at -20°C for 12 months after receipt. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Caution: FITC conjugates are sensitive to light. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
