- Recognizes sheep CD14, a GPI-anchored ~55kD membrane glycoprotein and monocyte/macrophage differentiation antigen, belonging to the lipopolysaccharide receptor family. Ovine CD14 is expressed by monocytes, macrophages and peripheral blood granulocytes (Hopkins et. al. 1996). CD14 acts as a receptor for the potent bacterial endotoxin, lipopolysaccharide (LPS), facilitated by LPS-binding protein. The binding of LPS to CD14 results in cell activation, the release of cytokines and the inflammatory response, and has been shown to upregulate the cell surface expression of adhesion molecules. Applications: Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry, ELISA and Immunoprecipitation. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Flow Cytometry: 1:25-1:200. 10ul to label 1x10e6 cells or 100ul whole blood Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Hybridoma: NS0 myeloma cells with spleen cells from Balb/c mice. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
