- CTSS (Cathepsin S) is a lysosomal enzyme that belongs to the papain family of cysteine proteases. This protein is expressed by antigen presenting cells including macrophages, B-lymphocytes, dendritic cells and microglia. Moreover, CTSS is expressed in some epithelial cells. In contrast, cortical thymic epithelial cells do not express CTSS. Normal epidermal keratinocytes do not express CTSS. However, level of CTSS is elevated in psoriatic keratinocytes due to stimulation by proinflammatory factors. CTSS can function as an elastase over a broad pH range in alveolar macrophages. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Immunofluorescence/Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Hybridoma: F0 myeloma cells with spleen cells from Balb/c mice. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
