Extra Details:: Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), also called matrixins, belong to a family of proteases that are essential for the breakdown of extracellular matrix (ECM). They are thus important in apoptosis, tumor cell growth, invasion, and metastasis; as well as angiogenesis and wound healing. Most of the MMPs contain common domain structures that include a signal sequence, a propeptide, a catalytic domain, and a hemopexin-like (Hpx) domain. MMP-2 and MMP-9, the two gelatinases, contain three additional repeats of a fibronectin type II-like domain, enabling them to bind to and break down collagens. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1:500-1000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile PBS. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
