- Platelet factor-4 (PF-4), otherwise known as CXCL4, is a member of the intercrine alpha (chemokine CXC) family, released from the alpha granules of activated platelets, during platelet aggregation. PF-4 binds with high affinity to heparin, counteracting its’ anticoagulant effect, thereby promoting blood coagulation, and implicating PF-4 in wound repair. PF-4 acts as a chemotactic factor for neutrophils, monocytes and fibroblasts, and binds wih CXCR3B, a splice variant of the chemokine receptor CXCR3. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Western Blot: 1:500-1000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile PBS. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
