Extra Details:
Tau is a highly soluble microtubule associated protein found in high concentration in neuron of central nervous system. The main function of the protein is stabilizing the microtubule in nerve fibre (axon). There are six tau isoforms which are formed by alternate splicing. Hyperphosphorylation of Tau protein results in aggregation and formation of neurofibrillary tangles, which is significantly associated with cognitive impairment in Alzheimer’s disease. Tau Thr181 phosphorylation has been used as a biomarker for the differentiation of Alzheimer’s disease and other primary dementia such as dementia with Lewy bodies. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot and Indirect ELISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Western Blot: 0.5ug/ml (1:2000) Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Hybridoma: Sp2/0-Ag14 myeloma cells with spleen cells from Balb/c mice Storage and Stability: Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile dH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
