Extra Details:
Tau is a highly soluble microtubule associated protein found in high concentration in neuron of central nervous system. The main function of the protein is stabilizing the microtubule in nerve fibre (axon). There are six tau isoforms which are formed by alternate splicing. Hyperphosphorylation of Tau protein results in aggregation and formation of neurofibrillary tangles, which is significantly associated with cognitive impairment in Alzheimer’s disease. Tau Thr181 phosphorylation has been used as a biomarker for the differentiation of Alzheimer’s disease and other primary dementia such as dementia with Lewy bodies. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1:2000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
