- Alpha-synuclein is a protein of unknown function. It is mainly found in neural tissue. There is a lipid-binding motif similar to that of Apolipoproteins on its N-terminal. A hydrophobic region that is the non-beta component found in amyloid aggregation in Alzheimer’s disease is located at the central region of the protein. The abnormal aggregation of a-synuclein on brain tissue is called Lewy bodies, which are found in Parkinson’s disease, dementia and multiply system atrophy. Mutated a-synuclein gene is found to be associated with rare familial form of Parkinson’s disease. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 5ug/ml Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
