- Human platelet membrane glycoprotein Glycoprotein IIb/IIIa (GP IIb/IIIa) is a dominate receptor on the platelet membrane with very high molecular weight (>200kD). After the platelet is activated, the GP IIb/IIIa receptor complex changes conformation and binds to fibrinogen in blood circulation with high affinity. The activation of platelets is initiated locally when the endothelial layer is wounded and the platelets are exposed to the collagen underneath the endothelium. The fibrinogen aggregates with platelets when binding to the GP IIb/IIIa receptor on platelets, thus primary haemostasis (Platelet clot) is formed. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
